We examine all aspects of projects and frequently challenge the norm to find the best possible solution to every task. We invest in technology and people to deliver on project-specific key drivers to develop our service.

Health, Safety and Wellbeing

Our Way is Clipfine’s Health, Safety and Wellbeing (H,S&W) strategy which embeds a positive culture within our diverse workforce, long-standing supply chain and strategic partners.

Based on common high standards and individual client priorities, in addition to current and upcoming legislation, Our Way utilises simple key performance indicators to promote a relentless pursuit of excellence in regards to health, safety and wellbeing.

Our Way also facilitates a framework for knowledge capture, innovation and the sharing of best practice to support the development our staff, project teams and our suppliers.

To ensure we achieve consistently high standards, Our Way is intentionally focused on few vital underpinning principles which are fundamentally important to our past and future success. Leadership, engagement, commitment, empowerment and consistency are the principles we apply during our day-to-day business and which have all shaped our business success to date.

Our Way aims to promote positive recognition and the rewarding of staff for their outstanding achievements in these areas. The structured scheme is complimented with Our Way colour-coded badges; from entry-level bronze to masterclass gold. Equally, any staff not meeting Our Way standards of excellence, are invited to develop their knowledge and skills with us.

Health & Safety Training

Everyone at Clipfine undergoes training to create a safe and incident-free working environment.

All employees take part in annual training to ensure they are aware of the latest health and safety legislation. It is mandatory to have a CSCS card in their chosen discipline and specialist operatives receive appropriate CPCS/CITB training. In addition, our operations managers and site supervisors undertake the CITB Site Managers Safety Training Scheme, national vocational qualifications and first aid training.

Through a combination of in-house and external training, we provide development solutions and courses on the following topics: manual handling, traffic marshalling, fire marshalling, safe use of abrasive wheels, safe use of power tools, COSHH and risk management.

To supplement in-house training, we use our approved and vetted training providers to develop our staff in areas such as:

  • First aid at work
  • NEBOSH (National Examination Board in Occupational Safety and Health)
  • SMSTS (Site Management Safety Training Scheme)
  • SSSTS (Site Supervisor Safety Training Scheme)
  • PASMA (Mobile Towers) course
  • IPAF (International Powered Access Federation)
  • CPCS (Construction Plant Competence Scheme)
  • SIA & CCTV
  • Safe use of safety harnesses
  • New roads and street works; signing, lighting & guarding
  • Conflict management and resolution
  • National vocational qualifications in construction management and supervision

Mental Health –Time to Change

Clipfine is committed to the evolving the way we think and act around mental ill-health, breaking down the stigma around such an important topic.

We recognise that work-related stress has a negative impact on staff wellbeing and that this can take many forms.

We encourage a culture of cooperation, trust and mutual respect, where all individuals are treated with dignity. We provide support, sign-posting and guidance in the form of mental health first aid trained staff within our workforce so that any unavoidable stressors in the work environment are minimised or mitigated for the best possible wellbeing of all staff. We believe respect, inclusion and support are vital to creating an environment for success and promoting an enjoyable working atmosphere.

Since signing the Time to Change pledge in the summer of 2017, we have established a ratio of one Mental Health Connector to every 25 members of staff and aim to better this year on year.

Training & Personal Development

Training & Development

Clipfine strongly believes in the importance of recruiting, training and retaining a diverse and local workforce. We are committed to developing our staff and can offer career progression within our organisation.

We help our clients meet project employment targets and take a lead role in creating local partnerships to ensure that residents and businesses benefit from the opportunities created by projects. We identify possible disadvantaged groups within communities, engage with them to provide opportunities for employment, training and apprenticeships.

We work with our supply chain partners to provide apprenticeship opportunities to develop potential. Clipfine ensures that disadvantaged and under-represented groups have priority access to facilities for training and encourages job applications from the local community.

Training Programme

We can provide a bespoke training programme for the project.

The aim of these programmes is to provide local residents with a six-week introduction to construction and logistics within a safe environment. Mentored by Clipfine personnel, candidates receive training and assistance to ensure they complete the course and achieve certification, assisting them in achieving permanent employment.

Clipfine is committed to responsible construction, minimising the impact on the environment and local communities.

We aim to:

  • continue to improve our environmental performance
  • raise environmental awareness of all operatives and stakeholders
  • fully comply with all environmental legislation
  • provide waste training to all employees and clients' on-site teams
  • provide environmentally-friendly products

Clipfine are committed to ensuring that clients achieve project sustainability objectives.

We promote best practise in energy efficiency and constantly strive to reduce energy usage on site.

We seek to:

  • use local labour, businesses and suppliers
  • meet recycling targets
  • facilitate project recognition (e.g. BREEAM and the Considerate Contractor Scheme)

We provide a number of waste management solutions and accurately measure site waste. This includes the capturing of delivery CO2 emissions data via our delivery management software, iCLik.

We are affiliated with the ‘Halving Waste to Landfill’ scheme; all our materials come from sustainable sources and we consistently exceed industry standards for recycling and waste management.

We introduce automatic controls to power supplies and promote rainwater harvesting to welfare facilities. We follow the waste hierarchy of ‘Re-Use, Recycle and Reduce’ by actively encouraging on-site waste segregation and material re-use compounds.

Social Inclusion & Community Engagement

We actively engage with local communities to ensure residents and businesses benefit from the project.

Clipfine advocates the Considerate Contractor Scheme to improve the image of construction and we can assist with the following schemes:

  • community investment programmes
  • employment of labour, businesses and suppliers
  • workshops, community groups and school visits
  • charitable events and fund raising
  • newsletters, leaflets and project websites

Our logistic management systems enable us to minimise disturbance to the local community.

Clipfine can:

  • control delivery timing via our delivery management system, considering local events, planned road closures or designated quiet periods
  • use consolidation centres to maximise delivery efficiency and minimise traffic
  • provide security and traffic marshals, responsible for managing vehicular access, minimising impact to neighbours
  • control and monitor noise and dust pollution by the provision of vehicle wash down facilities and noise monitoring equipment
  • provide excellent welfare facilities, such as subsidised canteens encouraging operatives to stay on-site during breaks
  • manage designated smoking areas
