Responsible Business

As a responsible business, we are actively embracing our Sustainable Development Goals, managing our impacts across four key pillars: Health, Safety & Wellbeing, Our People, Environment & Sustainability, and Social Value.

Environment and sustainability

We identify, manage, and mitigate our environmental impacts through our ISO 14001 certified management system.

Reducing Carbon

We are progressively moving towards a low-carbon future, with a business-wide Net Zero Target by 2030. Driven by our Carbon Reduction Plan, this initiative focuses on reducing fossil fuel consumption, increasing our use of low-emission plant and equipment, and adopting a fully electric vehicle fleet.

Managing waste

We consistently demonstrate high recycling rates and significant waste diversion from landfill and energy recovery, in accordance with PAS402. We also collaborate closely with our supply chain on key initiatives such as take-back and recycling schemes, and identifying methods to reduce excessive packaging.

Responsible sourcing

We are increasing our procurement of ethically sourced materials and those made from recycled content. Our supplier selection process ensures materials used are certified as responsibly sourced through independent third-party certification schemes such as FSC, BES6001, and ISO 14001.

Health, Safety and Wellbeing

Operating safely, efficiently, and professionally is simply ‘Our Way’. Underpinned by a set of core principles, the ‘Our Way’ Framework is deeply rooted across our organisation. It focuses on embedding a positive safety culture within our workforce through leadership, collaboration, training, and positive recognition. We are proud of our industry-leading safety record, with performance consistently well above the industry average.

As signatories of the Time to Change Pledge, we understand the importance of workplace health and mental wellbeing. We provide support, signposting, and guidance to our teams through our trained mental health first aiders and comprehensive health surveillance program.

Investing in people

Our people and our culture differentiate us from our competition.

Our inclusive resourcing and talent development programs are focused on attracting, retaining, and developing stable, motivated, and well-balanced teams. Comprehensive training, development, and engagement programs are in place to support our people in developing their skills and competencies, enabling them to reach their full potential. We value diversity and are actively creating a more inclusive workplace, ensuring everyone feels welcome, safe, and has a voice.

Social value

Through our projects, we seek to unlock social value and create positive economic, environmental, and social impacts.

Our programs and activities are focused on creating work and training opportunities to build sustainable communities through employment, skills, and understanding. Our ethos is to ‘Think Local’ and provide meaningful work experience, training, and employment opportunities for residents living close to our projects. We engage with local communities by volunteering our people’s time and expertise to support community projects and charities, such as upgrading community facilities and helping out at community events.
